We’re excited to announce that applications are now open for the next round of our fully funded Early Years Skills Bootcamps.

As a B Corp-certified training provider specialising in Early Years and Education, we’re passionate about creating opportunities for individuals to develop sector-specific skills, build confidence and access rewarding careers. Our Skills Bootcamps are flexible programmes lasting up to 16 weeks and include a guaranteed interview opportunity with an employer upon completion.

Why Skills Bootcamps Matter

These programmes are helping to create new routes into the Early Years workforce while supporting local nurseries and childcare settings with one of their biggest challenges: recruiting and developing skilled staff.

Delivered through blended learning, our Skills Bootcamps combine expert-led training with practical experience in childcare settings, giving learners the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

We currently offer three Early Years Skills Bootcamps:

• Introduction to Childcare– a six-week programme designed for those with little or no experience in the sector. Learners gain valuable insight into childcare while achieving industry-recognised qualifications, including Paediatric First Aid and an enhanced DBS check, at no cost.

• Early Years Leadership & Management- a 10-week programme for professionals looking to take the next step into leadership and management roles. Learners develop their skills in communication, decision-making, quality improvement and leadership practice.

• Early Years Specialist in Working with Babies and Young Children Under 2 Years- a 13-week NCFE-accredited qualification designed to enhance professional knowledge and support career progression within the Early Years sector.

Supporting Career Progression Across the Sector

Our Skills Bootcamps Manager, Katharine Marsland, explains:

“At Shoots, we believe that shaping young lives and developing future leaders go hand in hand. Our Skills Bootcamps open doors to rewarding careers in Early Years, equipping individuals with the skills, confidence and experience they need to thrive. At the same time, we support local settings to build the strong, capable teams that children deserve.”

Speaking on Apprenticeships in Plain English, Katharine also highlighted the impact these programmes have on learners:

“One of the most powerful stories is seeing learners who initially doubted themselves become confident enough to apply for jobs they never thought they could access.”

Expanding Opportunities Across the South

As our current cohort completes their programmes this June, we’re preparing to welcome a new intake. We’re particularly excited to be expanding our Introduction to Childcare Skills Bootcamp into Cornwall, alongside continuing our provision across the Solent and Isle of Wight. This expansion means more people will have access to fully funded training and opportunities to start or progress their careers in Early Years.

The Early Years sector continues to face recruitment and retention challenges, and we’re proud to play a role in addressing those issues by connecting motivated learners with real opportunities in their local communities.
